Tip of the Day – Wire baskets

decluttr

With a home office, you often wonder around your house thinking “that looks cluttered”. I had that thought this morning looking at my wire basket full of essential toiletries. I bought the wire basket from Crate and Barrel but thought the lining was an unnecessary additional expense. How wrong was I! I purchased the lining today (AED35) and the basket looks much neater. The products don’t fall over now within the basket or through the holes and people do not need to see what is inside. Sometimes it pays to live a bit less decluttered. 🙂   Crate and Barrel Read More

The Dispose Items List

decluttr

I keep noticing whilst decluttering rooms that there are the same items that need to be part of the declutter process again and again. From old wedding invitations to wires for old desktop computers, the list is long. To help you start deciding what to keep and what to dispose here is a list of items, I think should be disposed out of your life. Of course an item is in the eye of the beholder and you may believe that a certain item can be used for a different purpose such as an old t-shirt can be worn in Read More

The Spice Cupboard

decluttr

I was asked by my friend @mita56 (see her post on the declutter session here) if I could help decluttr her cupboards with spices and other items recently. She wanted to store them in a way that made it easy to access and also to help remove the items that were not needed. Mita had bought a few filing trays from Daiso to use in the cupboards but unfortunately they were too big to use in a neat manner and would have taken valuable space up. So I suggested we forgo them and exchange them for items that may be Read More

Guest blog – Tea Organising by @Kangayayaroo

decluttr

My lovely friend @Kangayayaroo had a decluttr session this weekend. She has kindly agreed to share her decluttr session with us all. Here’s her post:   My husband has a tea habit. The habit is spilling out of the cupboard in all directions. He may know what is in there, but I certainly couldn’t find mint or chamomile when needed. I wanted to have a tidier way to handle this, like a nice wooden case with small drawers, but that would take up too much counter space. So, a quick Google image search for “organizing tea” gave me a few Read More

I know from talking to clients that sometimes you just don’t know where to start with decluttering the wardrobe. This diagram is helpful to start the process of going through the items and either keeping, tossing or donating them.   It is not the clearest diagram and do we need more profanity when decluttering…? (found courtsey of pinterest – http://pinterest.com/pin/11047961557768348/) To assist, here is my decluttered diagram of the above for your viewing pleasure (click on the link). I was recently asked to help clear the clutter under the sink for a client. Here is the before   and the after   The two plastic baskets were bought from Carrefour. Both are are large and made of heavy duty plastic to withstand the weight of the bottles and they are easy to clean. The box on the left contains sponges, pet cleaner, anti-bac wipes and other miscellaneous items.  The box on the right contains the mainly used items such as detergent, mop cleaner, bleach, bathroom cleaner, kitchen cleaner, etc.   © 2013 Decluttr Me | All rights reserved Read More
