HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?

A lot of progress can be made in a day for each  room.

WHERE DOES IT ALL COME FROM?

Clutter comes from bad habits, unwanted gifts, shopping unnecessarily, and from not having the time to address the muddles or excess paperwork.

WHAT TYPES OF PEOPLE HIRE A PROFESSIONAL DECLUTTER?

There is no one type of person who is disorganized, it can happen to any of us. Quite often it is due to a life change such as moving home, divorce, having a baby, downsizing, losing a parent – all of these reasons can leave us overwhelmed in the home. Working with us, we will help you regain a semblance of order in your busy life.

WHERE DO I START?

The most important decision is to want to make a start. First of all we will tackle the area you feel is the worst. The rewards will have a knock on effect. There are plenty of non-emotive areas for you to tackle alone for example the bathroom cabinets.

WHEN SHALL I START?

It’s never too soon. The longer you put it off, the more there will be to organise. Decluttering takes time and emotion – perhaps a reason why you have not already taken action?

HOW DOES IT WORK?

We will arrange an FREE initial consultation phone call to discuss how you would like us to declutter and organise. We will also ask you to provide photos of the areas you would like to declutter. We will advise you of the email address.

HOW WILL YOU KNOW WHERE TO PUT MY THINGS WHEN I MOVE HOUSE?

This will be discussed in advance and labelled boxes will be unpacked logically e.g. clothes in wardrobes, linen in the store room, food and crockery in the kitchen, toiletries in bathroom etc. We can do in a day what may take you weeks!

WILL YOU THROW THINGS AWAY?

Sensible decisions must be made to dispose of some items to create more space in your home – especially when downsizing. Things important to you will be kept and either displayed or stored away. The goal is to make your life run more smoothly by creating an organisational system that fits around your life.

IS THERE A COMMON PROBLEM?

Yes – paper. We all have too much of it! It is a good idea to allow two, half-day sessions for paperwork.

DO I NEED TO DO ANYTHING BEFORE YOU ARRIVE?

It is a good idea to have plenty of boxes and refuse bags. Many people tend to have bought storage in the past to help them with their clutter. If you haven’t and something is needed, we can supply cardboard boxes and clear stackable storage boxes. There will be a charge for these additional items.

HOW CAN I STAY ORGANISED AND TIDY?

Once everything has a place it will be much easier to maintain a decluttered home. We will provide organisational systems during our session which you will be able to use after we have left. Decluttr Me also provide tips on our Instagram, Pinterest, Google+, Twitter and Facebook accounts as well as this website.

DO YOU CLEAN?

We will clean shelves and units where it will assist with the decluttering service, but we do not offer a full cleaning service. We can recommend companies you could use.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THE THINGS THAT I NO LONGER NEED?

Any items you choose to get rid of will be recycled wherever possible and provided to charities. You may have things that you can sell and we can advise of the different methods to sell the goods.

DO YOU WORK ALONE?

Most of the session our Decluttr consultant will work with you when decluttering, as you need to make the decisions. When unpacking after your house move we can work alone as we will have discussed in detail where belongings are to go.

IS YOUR SERVICE CONFIDENTIAL?

Decluttr Me is a professional service and will keep the project completely private and confidential.  We will provide a Confidentiality Agreement to be signed by us both before we commence the service. We will ask you during the consultation period if you would be happy for us to take photos of the before and after, but it is entirely your choice.

HOW DO I PAY?

All sessions are payable in advance, on receipt of the pro-forma invoice, via our shop, by cash or bank transfer.

WHAT IF I NEED TO CANCEL?

There is a 48 hour notice period required.
