Top tips for decluttering during the Christmas Season
It is the perfect time of the year to reduce the amount of clutter coming into your life during Christmas. Here are some tips to guide you during this period:
1. Fewer gifts – does your family need so many presents from each person? For the kids how about giving them one from Santa and one from yourself?
2. Donate gifts – rather than by buying presents that will add to the clutter in the receivers house, how about donating to a charity on their behalf such as Red Crescent/Cross
3. Less food – there is so much food wastage during this season and a huge economical burden to families. Why not buy simple, seasonal local food (you can buy a lot from the Farmers Market every Friday at the Emirates Towers car park), and dish out only what can be eaten.
4. Reuse – for example reuse last years Christmas cards as gift tags and unopened/unappreciated presents.
5. Decorations – reuse your decorations from the previous years and only buy new ones if your old ones are broken or destroyed.
6. Donate old toys - Review the children’s toys and donate any unused ones to charities such as Dar Al Ber, so they can be sent to children who would appreciate them.
7. Declutter your debt – don’t overspend for the sake of the season. Thoughtful gifts should trump extravagant gifts. The receiver doesn’t agree with this sentiment they are not worthy of the gift.
8. Agree to attend fewer Christmas events – you will be tired and stressed more if you attend every single event you have been invited to.
9. Start preparing earlier – prepare the shopping lists in November and start buying now. Don’t wait until Christmas Eve to buy the presents and food.
10. Declutter your rooms in preparation for your guests – you want your rooms to look neat and decluttered for your guests so now is a good time to remove the clutter.
This year why not declutter the areas that frustrate, hinder or otherwise trip you up. No guilt. No debt, No forced obligation.Enjoy this year with your family, friends and loved ones in stressless decluttered peace. If you need guidance to start the decluttering process then contact us.
